Happy New Year

New Year's resolution 2020

  • Figure out God's recipe to avoid anxiety, and put it into practice.

  • The cure to anxiety How to give, how to pray, God and possessions.

  • Matt 6:25-34 Don't worry, prioritize.

  • How to give Matt 6:1-4 Christians are expected to be charitable.

  • Give to the poor, but do it discretely as to not glorify yourself

    • KJV- Take heed

    • NAS- Beware

    • NIV- Be careful

    • CSB- Be careful

  • It is important to God Our motives must be right, less us, more God.

  • How to pray Matt 6:5-8 Prayer is the one thing that no one can prevent you from doing. It is the most powerful tool we have. And yet it is the least used.

  • It matters how we pray! Less us, more God. Ephesians 6:18 - God desires us to pray on all occasions.

  • Jeremiah 33:3 - Call to me and I will answer you.

  • Hebrews 4:16 - Approach with boldness.

  • 1 Thessalonians 5:17 - Pray constantly.

  • Fasting and praying appear together 40 times in the Bible. But nowhere does it say we shouldn't be fasting. But the Lord calls those who fast to do so.

  • God and our possessions Matt 6:10-24 - It's all God's, prioritize accordingly.

  • In 2020 we need to remember it's all God's and He is in control. Don't worry and give it all to God!!

Today's Scriptures:

Matthew 6:1-34

“Be careful not to practice your righteousness in front of others to be seen by them. Otherwise, you have no reward with your Father in heaven. 2 So whenever you give to the poor, don’t sound a trumpet before you, as the hypocrites do in the synagogues and on the streets, to be applauded by people. Truly I tell you, they have their reward. 3 But when you give to the poor, don’t let your left hand know what your right hand is doing, 4 so that your giving may be in secret. And your Father who sees in secret will reward you.

How to Pray

5 “Whenever you pray, you must not be like the hypocrites, because they love to pray standing in the synagogues and on the street corners to be seen by people. Truly I tell you, they have their reward. 6 But when you pray, go into your private room, shut your door, and pray to your Father who is in secret. And your Father who sees in secret will reward you. 7 When you pray, don’t babble like the Gentiles, since they imagine they’ll be heard for their many words. 8 Don’t be like them, because your Father knows the things you need before you ask him.

The Lord’s Prayer

9 “Therefore, you should pray like this:

Our Father in heaven,
