A Guideline for a Christian life. Colossians 3:12-17

  • What does it mean to put on the new garments of salvation? The ones that God has clothed us in as Christians. Isaiah 61:10

  • Let's talk about the old clothes. Your former way of life, the sinful nature of man. That nature misleads and ensnare you to bring a separation between you and God. Ephesians 4:22-27

  • We are lured away by our own desires. James 1:14-15

  • We need to hold true to trying to exhibit the fruits of the spirt. Galatians 5:22-23

  • In many spots in the Bible it is stated that love is the most important of these. Can we try to love like Jesus does, in our daily lives.

  • Let us shed the old and dawn the new!

Colossians 3:12-17

Therefore, as God’s chosen ones, holy and dearly loved, put on compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness, and patience, 13 bearing with one another and forgiving one another if anyone has a grievance against another. Just as the Lord has forgiven you, so you are also to forgive. 14 Above all, put on love, which is the perfect bond of unity. 15 And let the peace of Christ, to which you were also called in one body, rule your hearts. And be thankful. 16 Let the word of Christ dwell richly among you, in all wisdom teaching and admonishing one another through psalms, hymns, and spiritual songs,[a] singing to God with gratitude in your hearts. 17 And whatever you do, in word or in deed, do everything in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him.

Isaiah 61:10

I rejoice greatly in the Lord,
I exult in my God;
for he has clothed me with the garments of salvation
and wrapped me in a robe of righteousness,
as a groom wears a turban
and as a bride adorns herself with her jewels.

Ephesians 4:22-27

to take off[a] your former way of life, the old self that is corrupted by deceitful desires, 23 to be renewed[b] in the spirit of your minds, 24 and to put on[c] the new self, the one created according to God’s likeness in righteousness and purity of the truth.

25 Therefore, putting away lying, speak the truth, each one to his neighbor,[d] because we are members of one another. 26 Be angry and do not sin.[e] Don’t let the sun go down on your anger, 27 and don’t give the devil an opportunity.

James 1:14-15

But each person is tempted when he is drawn away and enticed by his own evil desire. 15 Then after desire has conceived, it gives birth to sin, and when sin is fully grown, it gives birth to death.

Galatians 5:22-23

But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, 23 gentleness, and self-control. The law is not against such things.[a]
