God's Grace

-
"Grace and peace to you" Paul started letters in this way, what a wonderful way to greet people.
-
Grace isn't just a New Testament thing, but it all came together there.
-
Grace in Greek is charis. Charis means favor, blessing, kindness. When we show it to each other it is wonderful, but when God shows it, it is powerful.
-
Grace is God choosing to bless us rather than curse us for our sins.
-
Remember we are all sinners and we all fall short of God's standard
-
We all need God's grace that comes through Jesus
-
God's gifts us grace through our faith in Him. God does this because He loves us.
-
The first example of grace is when God chose to banish Adam and Eve for eating the fruit, instead of killing them and starting over.
-
We all need to work on having more faith
-
Know what God's word says so that He can truly bless you.
-
Mercy and Grace are similar but not the same
-
Mercy: not getting the punishment we deserve
-
Grace: a blessing we don't deserve
-

Today's Scriptures:

John 1:17
for the law was given through Moses; grace and truth came through Jesus Christ.
Romans 3:23-26
For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God. 24 They are justified freely by his grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus. 25 God presented him as an atoning sacrifice in his blood, received through faith, to demonstrate his righteousness, because in his restraint God passed over the sins previously committed. 26 God presented him to demonstrate his righteousness at the present time, so that he would be righteous and declare righteous the one who has faith in Jesus.

Ephesians 2:8
For you are saved by grace through faith, and this is not from yourselves; it is God’s gift—

John 3:16
For God loved the world in this way: He gave his one and only Son, so that everyone who believes in him will not perish but have eternal life.
