Worship: What it isn't
-
Worship is not determined by who you are.
-
Traditions and history are important, but they can get in the way of true worship. Know why you do what you do.
-
Worship is not determined by where you are at. You can worship anywhere and everywhere. It's a heart connection.
-
Worship is not determined by your emotional state. Worship can be emotional, but it is not dependent on your mood or feelings.
-
Worship should be done in Spirit and in Truth.

John 4:20-24
Our ancestors worshiped on this mountain, but you Jews say that the place to worship is in Jerusalem.”
21 Jesus told her, “Believe me, woman, an hour is coming when you will worship the Father neither on this mountain nor in Jerusalem. 22 You Samaritans worship what you do not know. We worship what we do know, because salvation is from the Jews. 23 But an hour is coming, and is now here, when the true worshipers will worship the Father in Spirit and in truth.[g] Yes, the Father wants such people to worship him. 24 God is spirit, and those who worship him must worship in Spirit and in truth.”

John 12:32
As for me, if I am lifted up[a] from the earth I will draw all people to myself.”

Isaiah 29:13-16
The Lord said:
These people approach me with their speeches
to honor me with lip-service,[a]
yet their hearts are far from me,
and human rules direct their worship of me.[b]
14 Therefore, I will again confound these people
with wonder after wonder.
The wisdom of their wise will vanish,
and the perception of their perceptive will be hidden.
15 Woe to those who go to great lengths
to hide their plans from the Lord.
They do their works in the dark,
and say, “Who sees us? Who knows us?”
16 You have turned things around,
as if the potter were the same as the clay.
How can what is made say about its maker,
“He didn’t make me”?
How can what is formed
say about the one who formed it,
“He doesn’t understand what he’s doing”?

Psalm 150:1
Hallelujah!
Praise God in his sanctuary.
Praise him in his mighty expanse.
